Clostridium difficile is a bacterium that infects the bowel and caused diarrhea. This infection is most commonly seen in people who were recently been treated with antibiotics and it can be spread easily to others. Clostridium difficile is also called as C. difficile or C.diff. C. diff infections may cause serious bowel problems. Symptoms of C.diff infections includes watery diarrhea, painful cramps in tummy, dehydration, dry mouth, head ache, loss of weight and appetite, etc. C.diff can be diagnosed by enzyme immunoassay, polymerase chain reaction, GDH or EIA. Treatment for Clostridium difficile infection includes antibiotic course.
