Malaria Testing Market size was valued at USD 833.2 million in 2023 and is poised to grow at a CAGR of 5.1% from 2024-2030. Malaria is a deadly mosquito-borne parasitic disease caused by a parasite species called Plasmodium. Human malaria causes symptoms that typically include fever, fatigue, vomiting, and headaches and if left untreated may cause death. According to UNICEF 200 million new malaria cases are reported globally each year. Approximately 600,000 deaths occur due to malaria each year and over half of the deaths are from Niger, Congo, Tanzania, and Nigeria. It’s one of the leading causes of child mortality.

According to WHO, a reduction of at least 40 percent by 2020; 75 percent by 2025, and at least 90 percent by 2030 is estimated. All these reasons have led to the development of fast-paced, new, and accurate diagnostic techniques such as Loop-Mediated Isothermal Amplification (LAMP) and efficient rapid diagnostic tests (RDTs).

As far as the drivers are present there also present some restraints such as the high cost of advanced diagnostics, still lack of awareness and education regarding the disease, the requirement of advanced infrastructure, and high skilled labour force for the research. The hard-to-pass regulatory frameworks for the approval of new products also play a role in inhibiting the expansion. Even with advanced diagnostic methods like PCR which offer high accuracy, their high cost and the need for specialized laboratories limit their widespread adoption, especially in low-income regions. • In April 2024, The UK Government has provided Euros 7.4 million support to Med Access to be used to negotiate lower prices for vital malaria drugs and diagnostic tests for people infected in countries around the world. The intervention is expected to improve access to malaria drugs and help tackle one of the biggest killers of children in sub-Saharan Africa.
