Roche and its subsidiary TIB Molbiol developed three unique PCR kits to detect the monkeypox virus. First LightMix Modular Virus (qPCR) kit will detect all monkeypox viruses from both West African and Central African forms of the virus. The second kit specifically detects only the West African and Central African forms of the virus. The third kit detects the orthopoxviruses and provides information about the monkeypox virus. LightCycler® 480 II Instrument or Cobas z 480 Analyzer analyzes the LightMix Modular Virus (qPCR) kits.
